Growing up on an old Minnesota farmstead, I was surrounded by the debris of generations. To most, this museum of my forebears contained nothing special, but to me the rusting skeletons of farm machinery that lay crumbling beside grain sacks and long forgotten fabrics was a world of strange beauty.  The odd happenstance of moss against peeling paint, or some piece of once- treasured lace falling against a chipped red brick was my inspiration, and became the heart of my work to this day.

I still seek to be inspired by the unusual and the discarded.  These days the thrift stores of Los Angeles are my museum of choice.  Nothing gives me greater joy than to lose myself amongst the racks of once treasured items, and later at my studio to allow the odd collage of possibility to unite fabrics and elements into something that carries the spirit of the old with the sparkle of the new.  This beautiful relationship is the cornerstone of my work...to make a piece of art reborn....something that can be enjoyed and worn again.  The possibilities are endless.
